David, capital of Chiriqui (q.v.) in Panamá, lies in a fertile plain on the Rio David, which enters the Pacific 8 miles to the south. Stock-raising and the cultivation of tobacco are extensively engaged in, and there is a considerable trade. Pop. 9000.
