Dionysius, surnamed THRAX ('the Thracian'), a native of Alexandria, who taught at Rhodes and at Rome about 100 B.C. His Technē Grammatikē is the foundation of all subsequent European works on grammar. The best edition is that of Uhlig (Leip. 1884).
