Dizful, a town in the Persian province of Khuzistan, about 190 miles W. of Isfahan, on the river Diz, here crossed by a handsome bridge of twenty arches. It has over thirty-five sacred tombs, and nearly as many mosques; but half the town consists of subterranean excavations in the rock, on account of the heat. It has a large trade in indigo, and is noted for the manufacture of reed-pens, which are exported to India and Constantinople. Pop. 25,000. Fourteen miles SSW. lie the ruins of ancient Susa.
