Donaghadee, a seaport and bathing-place in the north of County Down, on the Irish Channel, 19 miles ENE. of Belfast, and 21½ miles across from Portpatrick in Scotland, with which it is connected by a submarine telegraph cable. It lies in a crescent round the harbour, and exports cattle and farm-produce. Its fine lighthouse shows a fixed light visible 12 miles; a conical mound near (140 feet high) commands a fine prospect.
