Drumclog, a moorland tract in Lanarkshire, on the borders of Ayrshire, 6 miles S.E. of Strathaven. Here, 2½ miles E. of Loudon Hill, Claverhouse was defeated on 1st June 1679 in a skirmish with a party of 200 Covenanters, vividly described in Scott's Old Mortality. A monument marks the scene of the encounter.
