Dryophis

Chambers's Encyclopaedia, Volume 4: Dionysius to Friction, p. 101

Dryophis, a genus of non-venomous snakes in the sub-order Colubriformes, allied to Dendrophis; and, like that genus, of very elongated form, and mostly arboreal in habit. They are distinguished by a curious prolongation of the snout, which in some is slender, in some leaf-like. They are natives of tropical America and West Africa. The elongated snout is very marked in the associated genus Langaha.
