Dünaburg, a strongly fortified town of Western Russia, with some manufactures and a considerable trade, is situated on the Düna, in the government of Vitebsk, 127 miles SE. of Riga by rail. It is of great military importance, owing to the strength of its fortifications. Pop. 72,826. Dünaburg was formerly the capital of Polish Livonia.
