Elmshorn, a town in the Prussian province of Sleswick-Holstein, is situated on a navigable feeder of the Elbe, 20 miles NW. of Hamburg. It has considerable manufactures, especially of boots and shoes, an active trade in grain, a boat-building yard, and some breweries and tanneries. Pop. 9712.
