Empoli, a town of Italy, in a beautiful and fertile district on the left bank of the Arno, by rail 22 miles WSW. of Florence and 27 E. of Pisa. The collegiate church (1093), with a fine original façade, though the rest of the building was considerably altered in 1738, contains some good paintings and sculpture. Pop. 6719.
