Escobar y Mendoza, ANTONIO, Spanish casuist, was born at Valladolid in 1589. Entering the order of the Jesuits in 1604, he became celebrated as a preacher and writer. At his death in 1669 he left more than 40 vols. in folio, mostly in theology and morality, the principal being the casuistical Liber Theologie Moralis (1646), which has several times been printed.
