Es'te (ancient Ateste), a town of Italy, on the southern slope of the Engaean Hills, 17 miles SSW. of Padua. It is an old place, with a decidedly Lombard appearance, many of the houses being supported by arches. Its most interesting buildings are the Rocca, or castle, overhanging the town, and a Romanesque church, surmounted by a leaning campanile. Es'te has some manufactures of porcelain and faience wares. Pop. 5979.
