Euterpe

Euterpe, a genus of Palms (q.v.). E. olracea, the Palmeto or Cabbage-palm, is cultivated in Brazil (Para, &c.), both for its cabbage (the stem then serving for palisades), and for the sake of its fruit, which yields the basis of a refreshing drink. It is common in Central America.
