Falb

Chambers's Encyclopaedia, Volume 4: Dionysius to Friction, p. 533

Falb, RUDOLF, weather prophet, born 13th April 1838 at Obdach in Styria, was trained a priest, but devoted himself to science, especially meteorology, and after extensive travels settled in Berlin. He holds that earthquakes, storms, heavy rainfalls, and other terrestrial phenomena take place on 'critical days,' brought about by the conjoint attraction and influence of sun and moon on the atmosphere and the fluid interior of the earth—a view rejected by most meteorologists—and can therefore be calculated beforehand. He has written many works on astronomy, physiography, and meteorology, and issues half-yearly prognostications.
