Falster, a Danish island in the Baltic, south of Zealand, which measures 26 miles by 16 at its widest part, and has an area of 183 sq. m. It is flat, remarkably fruitful, and well cultivated. Its inhabitants (upwards of 32,000) employ themselves chiefly in agriculture and cattle-breeding.
