Fandango, like the Bolero, is an old Spanish national dance, in time. It is danced most gracefully in the south country, usually to the accompaniment of a guitar, while the dancers beat time with castanets. It proceeds gradually from a slow and uniform to the liveliest motion; and, notwithstanding the simplicity of the pas, expresses vividly all the gradations of the passion of love. See DANCE.
