Fareham, a market-town and watering-place of Hampshire, on a creek at the north-west end of Portsmouth harbour, 12 miles SE. of Southampton and 9 NW. of Portsmouth. It has earthenware manufactures and shipbuilding. Pop. (1851) 3451; (1881) 7183; (1891) 7934.
