Fitchburg, a city of Massachusetts, on the Nashua River, at the junction of three railroads, 50 miles WNW. of Boston. It has some 300 manufactories of machinery, paper, shoes, chairs, pianos, and tools, besides iron-foundries. Pop. (1880) 12,429; (1890) 22,037.
