Frederieton, capital of the province of New Brunswick, Canada, stands on the St John River, 58 miles NNW. of the port of St John. It is the seat of an Anglican bishop and of a university, and has some handsome government buildings. There are some manufactures, and a considerable trade in lumber is carried on. Pop. 6518.
