Haparanda, a town in the Swedish province of Norrbotten, 1½ mile from the mouth of the river Torneå, and opposite the Finnish town of Torneå (q.v.). It is the commercial outlet for the northernmost province of Sweden, and possesses a meteorological station. Pop. 1150.
