Haurân (anc. Auranitis), a large district in Syria, east of the Sea of Galilee. The name is sometimes restricted to one fertile plain there. See BASHAN; and works by Schnmacher (1886), Conder, Palmer, Stubel, and Heber-Percy (1895).
