Heptateuch, a word sometimes used for the first seven books (Gr. hepta, 'seven'; teuchos, 'instrument', 'volume') of the Old Testament—formed on the analogy of Pentateuch and Hexateuch. See BIBLE, Vol. II. p. 119.
