Ilminster, an ancient market-town of Somersetshire, is situated on the Isle, 11 miles SE. of Taunton by rail. The church is a noble example of Perpendicular architecture. Some manufactures of ropes, bricks, and tiles are carried on. Pop. of parish (1831) 2957; (1891) 3135.
