Issy, a village in the French department of Seine, half a mile SW. from Paris, with which it is connected by a tramway, possesses a seminary, a retreat for old men, a castle, and manufactures of waxcloth, chemicals, &c. Pop. (1886) 12,080. Here on 3d July 1815 Blücher defeated Davoût. In 1870-71, during the siege of Paris by the Germans, the fort of Issy suffered severely from the artillery fire. It has since been re-erected, and now forms part of the south-west defences of Paris.
