Jeffersonville, a city of Indiana, on the Ohio River, opposite Louisville, Kentucky, with which it is connected by an iron railway bridge nearly a mile long. The falls of the river at this point are utilised in the various manufactories, which include railway workshops, foundries, machine-shops, flour-mills, &c. There are also boat-yards, and hydraulic cement is manufactured in the vicinity. One of the state-prisons is here. Pop. (1890) 10,666.
