Jonas, JUSTUS (1493-1555), a helper of Luther's in the work of reformation and translation of the Bible, was professor at Wittenberg, pastor at Halle and Coburg, and superintendent at Eisfeld. He took part with Luther in many of the great events of the Reformation, as at Worms, Marburg, and Augsburg. There is a monograph on him by Pressel (1863).
