Kadiak, an island off the S. coast of Alaska, separated from the mainland by Alaska Strait. It is mountainous and heavily wooded, contains good harbours, and has an area of 3465 sq. m. It is inhabited by a tribe of Eskimos, engaged in the salmon-fishery, and has a pop. of 1500.
