Karnul, a town in Madras Presidency, India, 110 miles S. by W. from Haidarabad (Hyderabad). Fever is endemic. Pop. (1871) 25,579; (1891) 24,576.—The district—separated on the north by the Krishna from the Nizam's dominions—contains 2440 sq. m., and in 1891 had a population of 683,718. The canal of the Madras Irrigation Company traverses it for 140 miles. Karnul suffered very severely during the famine of 1877-78.
