Kastamuni

Kastamuni, capital of a province of the same name in Asia Minor, stands 76 miles SW. of Sinope. It manufactures cotton goods, leather, &c.; its famous copper-ware are no longer made. Pop. 40,000. Here is the ancestral castle of the Comneni; the word 'Kastamuni' is said to be a corruption of 'Castrâ Comneni.'
