Kekulé, FRIEDRICH AUGUST (1829-96), chemist, born at Darmstadt, and ennobled as Von Stradowitz in 1895, became professor at Ghent and at Bonn (1865). He made important researches in the chemistry of the organic substances, and published a famous handbook of organic chemistry (1861-67).
