Kok-ra Wood, or COCUS WOOD, the wood of an Indian tree, Lepidostachys Roxburghii, which belongs to a very small natural order, Scapaceæ. It is imported into Britain in logs of 6 or 8 inches in diameter, having the heart-wood of a rich deep brown colour and very hard; and is much used in the manufacture of flutes and other musical instruments.
