Kolomea, a town of Austrian Galicia, on the Pruth, 43 miles by rail NW. of Czernowitz. Situated not far from a rich petroleum region, it has works for refining petroleum and for making paraffin candles. Pottery is, however, the staple manufacture. Pop. 30,160 (nearly half are Jews).
