Kum,

Chambers's Encyclopaedia, Volume 6: Humber to Malta, p. 463

Kum, next to Meshed the most sacred city of Persia, is a straggling, half-ruined, uninviting town on the commercial road between Isphahan and Teheran. Its many shrines and tombs dedicated to Mohammedan (Shiite) saints, especially the reputed tomb of Fatima, the daughter or sister of the great imam Riza, annually attract several thousands of pilgrims. Pop. 20,000.
