Kuttenberg, a mining-town of Bohemia, 185 miles by rail NNW. of Vienna. Its silver-mines were worked at least as early as the 13th century, and the first silver groschen were struck here about 1300. The town contains a number of fine old buildings, and has miscellaneous manufactures. Close by is an imperial tobacco-factory, with 2000 hands. Pop. (1890) 13,563.
