Leuckart, RUDOLF, zoologist, was born 7th October 1822 at Helustadt, and studied at Göttingen. In 1850 he became professor of Zoology at Giessen, and in 1869 at Leipzig; he specially distinguished himself by his study of the Entozoa. His great work is The Parasites of Man (Eng. trans. by Hoyle, 1886). He died 6th February 1898.
