Linares, a town of southern Spain, 90 miles by rail ENE. of Cordova, is celebrated for its mines of lead and copper, which yield 40,000 to 50,000 tons of argenterous ore annually. There are in the town lead and iron foundries, and gunpowder and dynamite factories. Pop. 31,000.
