Maritime Province (Primorskaya), part of eastern Siberia, extending along the Pacific coast from the frontiers of Corea to the Arctic Ocean, and including Kamchatka and Saghalien. It has a length of 2300 miles, a very varying breadth, and the enormous area of 730,000 sq. m. (more than 3½ times the size of Germany). The variety of climate and productions is of course great. See AMUR, SIBERIA, KAMCHATKA, SAGHALIEN. The Maritime and Amur provinces are under one governor-general, whose headquarters are at Khabarovka.
