Mirzapur, a town and district in the North-western Provinces of British India. The town stands on the right bank of the Ganges, 45 miles by rail SW. of Benares. It has manufactures of shellac, carpets, and brass-wares. Pop. (1881) 84,130. The district has an area of 5223 sq. m., and a pop. (1891), almost all Hindus, of 1,161,808.
