Morecambe Bay, an inlet of the Irish Sea, separates the main portion of Lancashire from the detached portion of Furness. It is about 10 miles in average breadth and 18 miles in length, and receives the Leven, the Kent, and the Lune. The depth of water in the bay is never great except in the channels of the rivers.
