Murray, DAVID CHRISTIE, novelist, was born 13th April 1847, at West Bromwich, in Staffordshire, and had served as reporter and then as war-correspondent (1877-78) for several newspapers, when in 1879 he published A Life's Atonement in 'Chambers's Journal.' In the same journal appeared Val Strange and John Vale's Guardian. Other works are By the Gate of the Sea, The Way of the World, Aunt Rachel, Old Blazer's Hero, The Weaker Vessel, A Dangerous Catspaw, &c. In 1889 he visited Australia and went on the stage.
