Paducah, capital of McCracken county, Kentucky, on the Ohio River, 48 miles above its mouth, and just below the entrance of the Tennessee, 226 miles by rail WSW. of Louisville. It has a large trade by river and rail, and contains shipyards, foundries, railway-shops, flour, saw, and planing mills, and manufactories of soap, vinegar, ice, furniture, tobacco, &c. Pop. (1890) 13,076.
