Palikao

Palikao, a place on the canal between Peking and its port on the Peiho. Here in 1860 was fought an engagement between the Anglo-French troops and the Chinese, and hence the French general, Cousin-Montanban (1796-1878), who was minister of War in August and September 1870, received his title of Count Palikao.
