Pinero, ARTHUR WING, born in London in 1855, studied law, but in 1874 made his début on the stage at Edinburgh, and in 1875 joined the Lyceum company. He is the author of a number of successful plays, including The Squire (1881), The Rocket (1883), Sweet Lavender (1888), The Second Mrs Tanqueray (1893), The Notorious Mrs Ebbsmith (1895), and The Gay Lord Quex (1899).
