Pitaka, a division of the Buddhists' sacred literature; the tripit'aka meaning the three great divisions of their canonical works, the Vinaya (discipline), Abhidharma (metaphysics), and Sūtra (aphorisms in prose), and collectively, therefore, the whole Buddhistic code.
