Pogge

Chambers's Encyclopaedia, Volume 8: Peasant to Eoumelia, p. 263

Pogge (Agonus cataphractus), a small fish, not uncommon on British coasts, also known as Armed Bullhead, Lyræ, Pluck, and Noble. It is related to the Bullhead (q.v.). The body, about 6 inches long, is cuirassed by large scales; the head is very broad, and the mouth is very small. Notwithstanding its uncouth appearance, it is good to eat.
