Puerto Plata, the chief port of the Dominican Republic, on the north coast of the island of Hayti. It has an open roadstead, but exports a good deal of tobacco, mahogany, sngar, coffee, cocoa, divi-divi, &c. The value of imports and exports varies from £230,000 to £300,000 a year. Pop. 6000.
