Aurungabad

Aurungabad, the name of at least four places in India. The most important of these is in the state of Hyderabad, situated on the Doodna, a tributary of the Godavari. The population, once 100,000, has fallen to 20,500. Its monuments of former grandeur are a palace, now in ruins, built by Aurungzebe, and the mausoleum of Aurungzebe's daughter.
