Aylesford, a village near the centre of Kent, on the right bank of the Medway, 3½ miles NW. of Maidstone. Remarkable ancient remains are found here, including the cromlech called Kits Coity House (q.v.)—a small truncated pyramidal chamber, open in front, and formed of four large rude blocks, three of which are upright, and the fourth laid on them.
