Ballyshannon, a seaport of County Donegal, the largest town of the county. It is at the mouth of the river Erne, on a small inlet running off from Donegal Bay, 157 miles NW. of Dublin by rail. There is a salmon-leap and a valuable salmon-fishery on the river. Pop. 2471.
