Tromsö, a town of Norway, capital of the amt of Tromsö (the north-west part of the kingdom), on the eastern shore of the low, fertile island of Tromsö, which is nearly 5 miles long, and about 1½ mile broad. Pop. of island, 65,000; of town, 6000.
