Benicarlo, a poor, dirty, walled town of Spain, in the province of Castellon, 84 miles SW. of Tarragona. Pop. nearly 8000, who manufacture 'full-bodied' wines for export to Bordeaux, where they are used in cooking clarets for the English market. Fiery brandy and carobs are also exported.
